Our galaxy has a new rhythm 🌌 The Milky Way doesn’t just spin and wobble – our Gaia mission has uncovered a great galactic wave, rippling tens of thousands of light-years across the disc of our galaxy. Think of a stadium wave frozen in time: some stars rising, others settling, the whole crowd moving together. That’s what Gaia’s precise vision has revealed – a cosmic ripple stretching across the Milky Way. Its origin? Still a mystery. Was it caused by a past collision with another galaxy? Or something we’ve yet to imagine? What’s certain is that Gaia’s maps help us see our home galaxy like never before – from above, from the side, and now, in motion. Which part of the Milky Way would you like to explore next? 📹 @europeanspaceagency 🎞️ ESA/Gaia/DPAC, S. Payne-Wardenaar, E.
