Today is the boyfriend’s birthday 🎉 🎂 (I suppose now is a good time to remind everyone that the Boyfriend=Husband…. 32 years ago I married my boyfriend… just never found a reason to change his title😉) And as always, l’ve made him his favorite birthday cake, Strawberry Shortcake. His Mom used to make him one every year as he grew up. She passed away very young so I never had the privilege of meeting her but I love that I can honor her memory on his birthday every year by making the cake she used to make for him when he was a child. I love simple cakes. I prefer to serve this cake plain with a big bowl of freshly whipped cream and a big bowl of strawberries.
