This is Assaí, a small city in Paraná that was founded by Japanese immigrants in 1932. The community helped shape its culture and layout, and the city still celebrates its Japanese roots today. Between July and August, its streets burst with white ipê blossoms, creating the all-white avenues you see here. The bloom turns Assaí into a seasonal attraction for photographers and travelers. Brazil is home to the largest population of Japanese descendants outside Japan, with more than 2 million people, and Assaí is one of the clearest examples of that heritage.
