This simple test gives us insight into how an athlete moves through layback, the high-stress position during the late cocking phase of throwing.
The two main things we focus on during this test are,
1. How much motion does the athlete have in layback?
2. Does this reproduce symptoms like pain, tightness, or discomfort?
Our main goal is to understand what’s causing the discomfort and decide whether we need to treat it, refer it, or monitor it more closely.
