A BART equipment issue halted trains and slowed systemwide travel Monday morning from approximately 6-9:15 a.m., marking the third BART Transbay Tube interruption or shutdown since August. An equipment problem on a track in the Transbay Tube caused the interruption in service Monday, according to BART spokesperson Michelle Robertson. Service continued to run through the tube in both directions, but BART had to single-track trains through the Transbay Tube, which prevented the red and green lines from running. Robertson said BART is still looking into the root cause of Monday’s issue.
