A brilliant display of digital activism. 🎨💫
#ICYMI: On Indigenous Peoples Day, seventeen Indigenous artists staged an unsanctioned augmented reality (A.R.) exhibit inside New York City’s iconic
@metmuseum — reimagining the “American Wing” with living, digital art.
Titled ENCODED: Change the Story, Change the Future (
@amplifierart), the project overlays Indigenous stories, sound, and imagery onto well-known paintings of “American history,” asking the question: Who is truly American?
“The Met did not know this was coming,” organizers shared. “ENCODED is not a protest or a demand for inclusion; it is a portal inviting us to see what happens when new narratives enter old frames. It is not a response to power. It is power.”
#TurtleIsland: How cool is this?! đź‘€ Are you going to check it out? Do you see acts like this as resistance or reclamation? đź’⤵️
