In a time where everything is categorized, defined, or limited to identifying information like what music you listen to, where you’re from, or what activities you enjoy, we decided to do the opposite because we understand that those characteristics can be linked to socioeconomic background and other systemic factors that keep so many of us out. We knew the consequence of not explicitly stating that our offerings are truly for all meant losing large portions of Black people that are looking for community and needing the critical resources that we’ve been told are only “for” those of us who for certain molds.
