It probably isn’t the best thing in the world to pine for a 33-year-old outfielder with six years and $150 million left on his deal, but they already might pay a version of that in Cody Bellinger, who is 31, has a lesser bat, and will most likely garner a similar deal. If you’re going to get one, why not go for the Hall of Famer? (Or Kyle Tucker! Imagine that world!) As for what it would take, in the hypothetical Bryce Harper trade, it probably wouldn’t take a Ben Rice. It would be a salary dump, and the Yankees wouldn’t have to give up much unless Philly ate a significant portion of the contract. It was more money and years, but Giancarlo Stanton took Starlin Castro, Jorge Guzman, and Jose Devers.
