Did you know the Stone Arch Bridge once carried trains? Before it became one of Minneapolis’ most beloved landmarks, the Stone Arch Bridge was built in 1883 to carry trains across the Mississippi River. For nearly a century, it connected people and places by rail. Today, it still connects people and places, just in a new way. Now a pedestrian pathway linking Father Hennepin Bluff Park on the east bank with Water Works at Mill Ruins Park on the west, the Stone Arch Bridge continues to connect our downtown parks and our city’s story. #tbt #throwbackthursday #mplsdtparks #mplsparks #StoneArchBridge #MinneapolisHistory #MississippiRiver
