The inaugural INTERSTATES exhibition in Fall 2024 finally brought the first form of our multimedia investigation to life. 🌵 - What began as a longing for escape evolved into a deep, sustained exploration of America via Historic Route 66. We introduced audiences to just a glimpse of the personas developed from our 5,000+ mile journey, each character acting as a guide and an agent for contemplating the complex state of the nation in 2024. The exhibit highlighted the tension between the romantic nostalgia of the “Mother Road” and the reality of existing within its fragmented regions. 💥📍 - Within this first showing, viewers encountered the central themes: the evocative symbolism of the roadside graves as memorials for each persona’s outlook, and the dense accumulation of artifacts within the centerpiece—a visual clock representing the constant unboxing and repacking of our expedition.
