More than 200 protesters demonstrated and tried to block the entrance to Coast Guard Island in Alameda, California on Thursday morning. Federal officials said on Wednesday that the base was being used as an operations center for federal immigration raids that were expected to start later this week in the San Francisco Bay Area. But President Trump announced on Thursday morning that federal agents would not be deployed to San Francisco at the request of his friends in the tech industry who live there.
