My family were mostly Evertonians, except for my father, who was a Red through and through.
I worked for Dunlop in Speke, which is where I knew a couple, who helped to run the Everton Supporters’ Club.
When I was 18, the Toffee Lady was stepping down, and they approached me to see if I would like to take over. It was explained that I’d be throwing the Everton Toffees to supporters in the ground and travelling to some away matches.
I didn’t really think anything of it but, when I talked about it with my family, they all said, ‘Go on, do it’, and, even though he was a Red, my father was over the moon about it.
It was an exciting time!
