It’s something that happens to a lot of people who have a uterus, like girls and women, as they grow up.” Boy: “Sure.” You: “It’s called a menstrual cycle or a period. It’s a normal part of growing up. Every month, a girl’s body gets ready to have a baby- even though she might not want to have one right now. Inside her body, there’s something called a uterus, and it helps hold a baby if she ever does want one.” Boy: “But what if she doesn’t have a baby?” You: “Most of the time-she won’t. When her body realizes there’s no baby, it doesn’t need the extra stuff that was getting ready, like blood and tissue. So, her body lets it go, and it comes out through her vagina.
