I knew I had to give it up when I did. But what was going to keep me believing that? Here are my 3 reasons: ✨I couldn’t manage a limit. And I shamed myself for a long time because of that, but not anymore. Alcohol is a highly addictive substance and you aren’t weak for losing control to it. You are human. I tried many, many times to moderate my intake, and it took more energy to do that than to just stop all together. So I did. ✨I hated how a hangover felt. This, of course, got worse with age, but I carried guilt for being too hungover to be present for my kids or be a productive person. I started seeing my time as fleeting, because it is. And decided that no more could be spent wasted, being wasted. ✨I didn’t know it then, but my self worth and confidence were all tied to drinking. I used alcohol as a comfort mechanism, to build myself up in social situations.
