#BLPnews Praying for this young man’s mental 🥺🙏🏾 A high school student at Kenwood High School in Baltimore County, Maryland, was handcuffed by police after an artificial intelligence weapon-detection system misidentified his snack as a firearm. The student, identified by local media as Taki Allen, had eaten a bag of chips following football practice and later crumpled the empty bag and placed it in his pocket.  On Monday evening, just after 7 p.m., surveillance cameras linked to the AI system flagged Allen as holding what appeared to be a gun. Armed officers subsequently arrived, ordered him to the ground, put him in handcuffs and conducted a search—finding no weapon. According to Allen, officers later pointed to the image captured by the system showing him with the chip bag, and told him the pose “looked like a gun.”  The detection system is operated by Omnilert, which the county school system adopted last year for weapon-detection via existing school-camera infrastructure.
