Strong winds and an ominous sky loomed over Frontier in Port Maria, St Mary earlier today, a visible warning of what’s approaching from the sea. Jamaica is now under a hurricane warning as Tropical Storm Melissa strengthens. According to the Met Service: • Gusty tropical-storm-force winds are expected to begin impacting eastern parishes later Friday. • Hurricane-force winds are possible from as early as Sunday. • Up to 300–400 mm (12–16 inches) of rainfall is forecast islandwide over the weekend into next week — starting in the east and spreading westward. • Officials warn of the possibility of roofs being lifted, structures damaged or demolished, and the island being “battered.” If it is safe to do so, send your photos or videos via WhatsApp to (876) 894-2555.
