Residents of Burger Gully say they are bracing for the worst as Tropical Storm Melissa inches closer to Jamaica. “Some time when me come offa my bed, mi house flood out… up to mi waist inna water,” said one resident who identified himself as Renee. Burger Gully is a major flood-prone waterway in Mountain View St Andrew. Another resident, Hyacinth Thomas shared the emotional toll the weather brings after losing her home to severe flooding. “Mi worried, worried, worried,” she said. “Yesterday makes 26 years since mi house did wash away... so right now I'm just fretting," she said. She also explained that the gully beside their home “dig up, dig up” and could burst again at any time.
