Simple Plan, When We Were Young 2025 REVIEW: There’s a real sense of release to Simple Plan’s performance today. Like everyone in attendance really needed this. That makes a lot of sense. The band’s timeless output has been a soundtrack for everyone at this fest in some shape or form - of not fitting in, of figuring out what you want to be in this life, of finding your people - and no one is more aware of that than the band. That’s why their set is chock full of those sentiments, delivered with a power and precision that comes ever so naturally to them. ‘Shut Up!’ still feels like a pitch-perfect exorcism of pent-up rage, whilst the angst that coats ‘Welcome To My Life’ and ‘I’m Just A Kid’, the latter made all the more chaotic as vocalist Pierre Bouvier and drummer Chuck Comeau swap roles, is still as rampant and relevant in adult life as it was for everyone here during their teen years. Though it’s during a spine-tingling ‘Perfect’ that the weight of all of this comes to a head. ...
