Boys Like Girls, When We Were Young 2025 REVIEW: “Boys Like Girls are back. Boys Like Girls are better than ever. You’re fucking welcome.” Martin Johnson delivers this statement with the vicious vigour that has come to be synonymous with his band since their leather-clad revival in 2023, and based on the form that they are in here, it is entirely justified. Because this is as good as live music gets. Taking the gooey-eyed and lovelorn anthems that have soundtracked as many first dances as they have break-up routines from their youth and forcing them through their perfectly executed hard rock attitude - if Mötley Crüe had their big break on the front page of MySpace - they pack 12 songs into their 30-minute slot in extravagant style. ‘Love Drunk’ and ‘Five Minutes To Midnight’ are anthemic as it comes, thrashing and thrilling in equal measure, whilst ‘Two Is Better Than One’ has the thousands in attendance here reaching for the heavens as its heartfelt intent still hits like a freig...
