OpenAI jumped into the browser wars today with ChatGPT Atlas, which puts AI at the center of your web surfing. 🦾 Atlas, which is free to download (but only on macOS to start), is built on Google’s Chromium engine. It promises to stand out from the competition by integrating OpenAI’s chatbot into the browsing experience. That means users will no longer need to copy and paste information from the web to the ChatGPT app. Instead, you can highlight text and click the “ChatGPT nub” to improve pre-written text, or use the dedicated “Ask ChatGPT” button in the upper right-hand corner. This opens a sidebar allowing the chatbot to view the web page you're on to provide helpful answers, like summarizing a movie review (though you'll need to watch out for hallucinations).
