We're thrilled to share that “About a Living Culture” by imagine876 (a.k.a Sneha Shrestha) has been reinstalled at Diversity Plaza in Jackson Heights, Queens✨ The radiant sculpture is inspired by the architectural vernacular of Kathmandu, where lattice windows are a defining feature of temples and traditional Newari buildings. The artwork is in the shape of a golden arch and is made of repeating rows of “Ka,” the first letter of the Nepali alphabet. It welcomes onlookers as it celebrates the artist’s Nepalese heritage and is inspired by the diverse Himalayan cultures of the neighborhood. This is the Nepalese artist’s first public art sculpture, and it will remain on view through January 1, 2026 as part of nyc_dotart’s Community Commissions initiative in collaboration with the RubinMuseum.
