Designer Michael Halpern’s guiding philosophy for his Connecticut home was inspired by the German phrase “aus einem Guss”, meaning “in one pour.” Nearly every surface of the upper pavilion is wrapped in white oak, including the floors, ceiling panels, and the trim around the custom windows and doors. The result is a tranquil, almost monastic space defined by shifting light and shadow.
