California Governor Gavin Newsom has approved a bill designed to make mental health resources more accessible to LGBTQ+ youth. The law requires public schools in California to include the number for The Trevor Project – an LGBTQ+ crisis hotline – on all student ID cards. Signed on World Mental Health Day, it is hopeful that the initiative will help reduce suic1de rates among LGBTQ+ young people. “Every student deserves to feel safe, supported, and seen for who they are.
