‘RuPaul’s Drag Race UK’ star Banksie has spoken out after Manchester Pride announced it was going into voluntary liquidation, leaving artists and suppliers out of pocket. Banksie, whose real name is Jonathan Banks, worked with Manchester Pride on three events this year: a main stage performance, hosting the VIP brunch, and a runway show. Writing in an op-ed for Metro, they explained how they were expecting payment on September 27 for ‘a couple of thousand pounds’. Banskie sent a payment reminder as the 30-day invoice payment deadline approached, and after it passed, added a 10% late fee to their invoice - explaining they also felt obligated to get answers for 17 other artists.
