Independence looks different after SCI, but it is not gone. The transfers, the driving, the everyday tasks may take extra effort or creativity, but they are possible. When I first got injured, I did not know if I would ever feel fully independent again. Years later, I can say it comes back, not in the same way, but in a way that works for you.
