If you knew me before my car accident in 2008, you’d know that version of me made way for the woman I am today. But one of the biggest lessons I had to learn was to stop comparing myself to the girl I was before my injury.
To anyone newly injured, especially my girls: I know it’s tempting to measure everything against your “before.” But give yourself grace. You’re still worthy, still beautiful, still capable. Life didn’t end, it shifted. And there is joy, love, purpose, and even laughter on this side too.
Comparison only steals from the beauty of who you’re becoming. Yes you are allowed to grieve your old self, but you are also allowed to tap into the parts you love and move forward into an even better version.
