LIONS FALL TO MONARCHS: The jserra.football team dropped a 40-7 decision to the Mater Dei Monarchs in a Trinity League game on Friday at Santa Ana Stadium in Santa Ana. JSerra is now 3-6 overall. The Lions trailed 14-0 midway into the second quarter, but their lone touchdown of the game came in spectacular fashion. Senior defensive back Zacarias Nickerson ripped the ball from a Monarchs receiver as he neared the sideline, maintained his balance inbounds, and raced 80 yards into the end zone. JSerra’s defense held the Monarchs out of the end zone for the remainder of the half, which ended with Mater Dei holding a 20-7 lead.
