MONARCHS INCH PAST LIONS IN REGULAR SEASON FINALE: The jserra.girlstennis team battled the Mater Dei Monarchs down to its' final swings on Thursday, with the Monarchs claiming the match victory and the Trinity League title on total games won (71-66) after each team won nine sets of action in the regular season finale at Match Point Tennis Academy at Cabrillo Park in Santa Ana. The Lions entered the match with an opportunity to claim a share of the league title by defeating the Monarchs and came within a couple of points of accomplishing that feat. JSerra won seven of nine doubles sets, led by sophomores Julianna Johnson and Ava Levitanus, who produced wins of 6-1, 6-3, and 6-0. Junior Naomi Clarke and freshman Paisley Crutchfield (6-2, 7-5) and sophomores Dylan Henderson and Brookelyn Garcia (6-4, 6-4) each claimed two tandem sets.
