A poem that will jump off the page – and fly into space ✨⁣ ⁣ LibraryCongress’s U.S. Poet Laureate AdaLimonWriter, who is known for work that explores the human connection to the natural world, is crafting a new poem dedicated to NASASolarSystem’s Europa Clipper mission.⁣ ⁣ Her poem, to be released in the coming months, will be engraved on the Europa Clipper spacecraft, which will travel 1.8 billion miles on its journey to the Jupiter system. The spacecraft is currently under construction at NASAJPL, and is set to launch from NASAKennedy in October 2024. It will go into orbit around the gas giant by 2030, conduct multiple flybys of Jupiter’s icy moon Europa, and gather observations on what is considered to be one of the most promising places in the solar system to look for life beyond Earth.⁣ ⁣ Limón was appointed 24th Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry by Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden in 2022.
