On my wrist is a bracelet with the names of the three Yankee captains who were alive during my lifetime, and one of them is, of course, Donnie Baseball. Think of what he went through in his career. The Yankees were in the World Series the year before he debuted and the season after he retired. It took 1700 games to get his first postseason appearence. As a coach and manager, he watched the 2004 collapse, was front row to playoff Kershaw, and survived a tenure with the Marlins. Good for Donnie.
