From the St. Catharines Blue Jays to the Stompers — our community has roots in Blue Jays history. ⚾️
As the Toronto Blue Jays begin their World Series bid, the City of St. Catharines is cheering them on — proud of our connection to Canada’s team and the role our community once played in their story. 💙
Here’s a look back at our hometown bluejays baseball legacy:
📍 The St. Catharines Blue Jays (and later the Stompers) played in the New York–Penn League from 1986 to 1999 as a farm team of the Toronto Blue Jays.
🏟️ Home games were held at Community Park in Merritton — a local summer tradition for fans and families.
🏆 The Jays won the New York-Penn championship in 1986.
🧢 The team rebranded as the St. Catharines Stompers in 1996 before relocating in 2000.
🌟 Over the years, future MLB players — including Carlos Delgado, Shannon Stewart and Vernon Wells — took the field right here in St. Catharines.
Once a part of the Jays family, always a part of the Jays family — and we’re cheering...
