Six ways to style a child's bedroom that can transition with them into the teen years.
1. Start with a full sized bed if you can. Easier for growth, house guests and more storage space underneath for toys.
2. Get nightstands with storage baskets. Baskets hide toys, books, tech gadgets and school supplies.
3. Add a reading chair that can later become a spot for play dates and older friends.
4. Add something prominent on the wall, like this Shark mount, that can later be replaced with a decorative mirror.
5. Start with standard sized furniture. I prefer to design children's bedrooms with furniture that doesn't have to be replaced. This set started with my now 18 year old son when he was 6 years old and has been repurposed in my 5 year old's room.
6. Choose decorative thematic accents instead of an entire room theme. Instead of going full shark mode, we opted for a shell map, Harold the Hammerhead
@target pillow and wall mount but kept the bedding and walls neutral.
