Sophomore Mary Inello, playing her first year on the Ursuline varsity field hockey team, scored three times to help lift the No. 4-seed Koalas to an opening-round 5-2 win over visiting No. 5 Suffern on Friday, Oct. 24.
Ursuline had edged the Mounties 3-2 during the regular season and after Inello scored off a penalty corner after time had expired in the third quarter, Ursuline carried that same lead until 4:16 was left in the game. That's when Inello finished her hat trick, scoring an insurance goal off a fine left-to-right feed by Cat DeAngelis.
