While training for spacewalks in the #nasa Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory (NBL) is one of the most fun and exciting parts of our training, it has also been the most challenging part of training for me. Learning to work in/with the EMU (spacesuit) is like learning to operate in a whole new and different body. It is both mentally and physically taxing. That’s why it felt so good to have some of my best friends and my fiancé on the pool deck after Zena and I finished the final run of our initial spacewalk training, exactly 2 years after NASA announced us as members of the 2017 group of astronaut candidates! Congrats, zenanaut, we did it!! Thanks to all our classmates and friends who stopped by to support us on this run or previous runs and to all the divers, instructors, trainers, mentors, etc. who have helped me reach this milestone in my training. #newastronauts #turtlepower
