In May 2025, NC State University welcomed Kevin Howell — North Carolina native and proud alumnus — as our newest chancellor. Howell will be formally installed as chancellor of NC State on Thursday, Oct. 30 at 11 a.m. The official installation of a new chancellor happens only a few times in a generation. The ceremony combines the weight of NC State’s 137-year history with the energy of a new beginning, offering the community a chance to pause, reflect and look forward to the future together in a spirit of hope.
