A lawsuit filed in New York State Supreme Court today details allegations of physical assault, emotional abuse, and financial manipulation against artist Mickalene Thomas by her former fiancée and business partner, the model, art advisor, and former Real Housewife Racquel Chevremont. The filing also accuses Thomas of withholding millions of dollars in wages, bonuses, and other agreed-upon compensation over the course of their 10-year working relationship, and that Thomas fired Chevremont in retaliation for rejecting her advances and pursued a campaign to tarnish her reputation in the art world. Chevremont is seeking at least $14.2 million in damages, excluding interest, counsel fees, and other amounts to be determined at trial.
