Texas senator Ted Cruz has criticised two women for their response to teenage girls protesting against a transgender volleyball player at a high school game in California. The event took place during a playoff game between Jurupa Valley High and Valencia High, which featured Jurupa Valley’s transgender player, AB Hernandez. The Texas Republican reposted two photos on social media, one of which showed the two women appearing to make explicit gestures, while the other depicts students, some of whom can be seen wearing shirts reading “Save Girls Sports”. Cruz wrote: “If you do this to little girls, your heart has turned entirely dark.” The images were originally posted by Sophia Lorey, outreach director for the California Family Council. Her post caption read: “Front camera vs back camera. Make it make sense…grown women hating on young girls fighting to protect women…” #TedCruz #Transgender #TransAthlete #Volleyball #US #lgbtqia
