JoJo Siwa has responded to criticism that she’s “moving away from” the LGBTQ+ community following her public relationship with Love Island star Chris Hughes. The couple recently made their red carpet debut on October 21 at the Dancers Against Cancer Gala in Beverly Hills. The 22-year-old, who now identifies as queer rather than as a lesbian, pulled out of a Chicago Pride event in June due to “scheduling conflicts” and has faced backlash for seemingly pulling back from her LGBTQ+ activism. “I will fight for the queer community until it’s over. It’s my people,” Siwa recently told CNN, addressing the criticism. She added: “I will always make everyone around me know that they’re accepted for who they are.
