Nearly 200 chemistry students gathered at 6:02 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23 to celebrate Mole Day, an annual party held by the chemistry department. Every year there’s a different theme, and this year’s celebration was themed HaMOLEton. Festivities included mole-themed activities such as whack-a-mole, molesical chairs and a mole scavenger hunt. Winning an event resulted in points for each student’s class. After the events concluded and the points were tallied, chemistry teacher Susan Hallstrom’s class won the mole day celebration with 1204 points.  Mole day is held at 6:02 am on Oct. 23 each year to symbolize Avogadro’s number, which is 6.022 x 10^23.
