What’s the first step to becoming a filmmaker? Well, making a film! Last weekend’s First-Year Filmmakers production blitz and festival featured over 50 RTVF freshmen who teamed up to create short (like, minutes-long) films within a 48-hour period. Each campus-based team was assigned a genre and a prop—and the same line of producer-generated dialogue to incorporate into their finished product. The weekend capped off with a screening/film festival in the Annie May Swift Auditorium. It’s both a rite of passage and a nod to our learn-by-doing spirit of #SeriousPlay.
