LIONS CLOSE OUT TRINITY TOURNAMENT: The jserra.girlstennis team enjoyed a strong close to the Trinity League Tournament on Tuesday at Santa Margarita High School in Rancho Santa Margarita. Sophomores Ava Levitanus and Julianna Johnson opened the day by advancing to the doubles finals by knocking off the Mater Dei tandem of Persa Donaldson and Bella Strickland by scores of 6-3 and 6-4. Levitanus and Johnson battled the Santa Margarita duo of Grace Kersenbrock and Emily Gao in the finals, falling by scores of 4-6 and 2-6. Junior Naomi Clarke and sophomore Isabella Geffre were defeated in the semifinals by Kersenbrock and Gao (1-6, 0-6), but rebounded to defeat Mater Dei’s Donaldson and Strickland (6-4, 2-6, 10-3) to claim third place. Sophomore Milana Leffler paced the Lions in singles competition, finishing in fourth place overall. Both Lions doubles teams and Leffler earned All-Trinity League first team honors.
