Your sales team won’t follow a new leader just because you gave them the title.
They’ll follow them because that person proves they can make the team better. That takes time — and it’s where most owners rush and lose trust.
Before you hand off full sales management, give your new sales leader 30+ days in a “co-lead” role. Let them run parts of the meeting. Let them coach reps. Let the team actually feel the value — ideally value even you weren’t giving them.
Why? Because when the team believes “this person helps me win,” the transition to full-time sales manager is smooth. Morale stays high. Performance keeps moving forward. You’re not forcing authority… you’re transferring trust. 💪
If you left your sales meetings tomorrow, would your team be excited about who’s leading next — or anxious?
