💀 The most elegant reminder that we all meet the same fate. She’s more than a beautiful skull. La Catrina reminds us that no matter how rich or powerful you are, we are all equal in death. Originally drawn by Mexican artist José Guadalupe Posada and inspired by Mictecacihuatl, the goddess of death, she’s become one of the most iconic symbols of Día de Muertos. My grandma used to say, “No importa cuánto dinero tengas en la tierra, no te lo puedes llevar cuando mueras,” which means, “It doesn’t matter how much money you have on earth, because you can’t take it with you when you die.” A saying my mom still reminds me of today, and one that I hold close every Día de Muertos. 🌸 Photos by gus.mejia.arte thecristinanavarro jenna.sparks.photo #LaCatrina #DiaDeMuertos #CalaveraCatrina #MexicanTraditions #MuyBuenoCooking
