Approximately 2/3 of our National Park rangers have been placed on leave (in addition to cuts made earlier this year). Those remaining have a lot on their plate. I was reminded of this park ranger I met in Kenya, who was responsible for protecting wildlife (namely elephants) from poachers. When I was a kid, I thought of being a park ranger as a fun nature job.
