By securing a collaboration with a tour agency, I was able to visit so many incredible sites in the Cusco region of Peru completely for free. If you’ve got a decent camera, you can do it too. 3 strategies I used:
1. Research every tour agency and reach out at least a month in advance. I contacted 15 companies in Cusco before I got a deal. Companies generally aren’t willing to hire you outside of peak season, either.
2. Explain how your photos will help grow their business. Agencies want modern photos for web and socials. They want to sell the fun of the experience as much as pretty photos of the actual destinations. Think of as shooting their ads.
3. Maintain an up to date portfolio and social media presence. Think about it. The more reach you have, the more marketing you have built in.
As I’ve said in earlier posts, sales is everything. You don’t even need to lug 2 huge cameras around like me. I hope these tips help. Let’s secure these collaborations and go see the world!
