🇵🇪 Protests against the Peruvian government have taken over the streets of Lima and Callao. As a result, interim president José Jeri has now declared a 30-day state of emergency. The declaration comes after nearly a month of protests against government corruption and organize crime that led to the ousting of former leader Dina Boluarte by Congress and have continued following the appointment of Jeri. Gen Z activists, who have been leading the protests, believe Jeri should resign so Peru can have a “clean slate” so that the rising crime rates can improve.
