These women demonstrators were on the march in the autumn of 1945 to protest the closure of Research Enterprises Limited, a factory in Leaside that made binoculars, scopes, and lenses for weapons. The factory had been established by the National Research Council to assist in making weapons for the Second World War. It was later taken over by Corning Glass, who used it to manufacture Pyrex dishes. Globe and Mail Fonds 1266, Item 98981. #ArchivesWomensHistory #Leaside #TOHistory #TorontoArchives
