Hard truth: if you don’t have a sales leader… you are the sales leader.
And yes — sales leadership is a full-time job. Recruiting, onboarding, training, ride-alongs, accountability, pipeline reviews. That’s 40 hrs/week work.
But most small business owners don’t have 40 hrs. They have 5.
That’s okay. The mistake is pretending 5 hrs will deliver 40 hrs of leadership. It won’t. Early on, you work with what you’ve got: focus those 5 hrs on the highest-leverage pieces (onboarding, activity standards, quick coaching) and accept that the support won’t be perfect… yet.
As the team produces, you earn the right to delegate the role, promote someone, or bring in a real sales leader. That’s how 5 hrs turns into 40.
