Twelve years ago today, I asked a girl I had the biggest crush on to be my girlfriend. Somehow out of some sheer luck, she said yes. I had no idea then just how much that moment would change my life. Since that day, she’s become so many things: the school valedictorian, the hardest-working college graduate I’ve ever known (with two majors and a minor), a leader who helps those at risk of homelessness, an advocate for the veterans, an incredible actress, a devoted daughter and granddaughter, a wonderful sister, and the most loving aunt a little boy could ever ask for who will chase him around all day. But beyond all those titles, she’s been my best friend, my muse, my partner, and the heart of my world. For twelve years, I’ve had the privilege of watching that amazing girl grow into an extraordinary young woman, and growing alongside her.
