Canisius came from behind in the second half against its rival – just as it did last year – to send them to back-to-back Monsignor Martin Athletic Association championships and another celebration with the 1180bluecrew.
Canisius dominated play throughout the game, with Hayden Cunningham ‘26 of Buffalo and Henry Smith ‘26 of Buffalo scoring on penalty kicks in the second half for the 2-1 win over St. Joe’s. Smith was named the playoff MVP.
Canisius (15-1-1) is headed back to the Catholic state championships, which are Sunday (semifinals) and Tuesday (championship) at St. John’s University in New York City.
